About Medars GmbH
Medars GmbH was established in August 2004 and is an institute conducting clinical trials, phases II-IV. Thus we act as mediator between the patients and sponsors that develop new drugs and therefore design clinical trials.
We carry out studies in different fields of internal medicine.
For years our team has been exclusively engaged in the implementation of clinical trials.
Our focus lies on pulmonology.

The concept of Medars GmbH is to be exclusively devoted to the conduction of clinical trials, i.e. without the added workload of a regular physician's practice.
Our duties consist in the analysis of study protocols with regard to the patient's interest and requirement possibilities, the documentation in accordance with the protocol and the preparation for monitor visits and audits.
The great responsibility of leading the patient safely through the trial while complying with the demands of trial protocols, can best be met in the framework of a designated study center.
We recruit our patients mainly through print advertisements.
Given the profile of our duties, we do not represent a competition for the regular physician's practice, since we are only entitled to treat a patient during the course of a trial and will always refer him to his attending physician after, and if necessary, during the study. Overall, we consider our model of a study center, though still quite new in Germany, a trendsetting ( forward/looking) concept that is well accepted with both patients and sponsors. In a regular physician's practice, burdened with the workload of tending to the primary health care need of it's patients, the strict quality standards applied to the often complicated study procedures cannot be met. Thus a general practitioner - if he conducts the study properly - will only be able to include a small number of patients, therefore making his site economically unattractive for sponsors - given the large amount of time, effort and expenses ( relating to initiation, monitoring, investigator's meeting etc.), disproportionate to the modest recruiting numbers.

Our premises are located at Kaiserdamm 9 in Charlottenburg district right in the center of Berlin, yet adjacent to the quiet Lietzensee Lake an Park, close to the both the ICC and the Charlottenburg Castle.
Our technical equipment consists of two bodyplethysmographs, an additional pulmonary function workstation, two computer-linked ECGs, long-term-ECG, emergency equipment, centrifuges, refrigerators and freezer for laboratory samples and trial drugs in addition to the standard facilities of a physician's practice on 270 square meters.
